Long-time Manhasset resident Clifford William Mays passed away at his home in Highland Beach, Florida on Jan. 28.
He is survived by his loving children William, Gordon, wife Jillian, Mary-Allison, Clifford Jr., wife Irene, along with his grandchildren, Allison, husband Peter, Caitlin, Thomas, Kristina, Clifford lll, Alexandra, William and Great grandson Benjamin and his loving companion Valerie Newman. He was predeceased by his wife of 59 years Carol Cynthia Mays.
Clifford was born in New York City in 1927. He served in the Marine Corp during the Second World War and then made his career in the printing industry. He also served for many years on the board of directors of Quick & Reilly, Inc.
Clifford was the past president of Strathmore Vanderbilt Country Club and a member of North Hempstead Country Club and Boca Resort & Club where he enjoyed his beloved tennis and golf games.
There will be a viewing 3-5 p.m. and 7-9 p.m. on Feb. 19 at Fairchild Funeral home in Manhasset, followed by a funeral service 10 a.m. on Feb. 20, at St. Mary’s in Manhasset, and Interment at Holy Rood in Westbury.
